Description
The Cartesian Project is a fast-paced first-person 3D platforming game that will pit you against an endless collection of procedurally generated challenges. You control The Sentinel, a mysterious mechanical walker with unmatched agility and dexterity. Infiltrate countless facilities and strongholds, stealing the resources you need to fuel your expeditions as you uncover your role in the conflicts surrounding the enigmatic planet of Eridani-C.
History
The Cartesian Project was started over 6 years ago as a simple platformer and has evolved considerably since then. First-person platforming isn't a genre that gets tackled very often and we drew inspiration from some unlikely places. The sentinel's movement was heavily inspired by the way the Hunter controlled in the original Left 4 Dead, namely it's ability to endlessly bounce off walls to navigate to anywhere in the map at high speeds. We first showed the game at EGLX 2019 and the overwhelmingly positive response we got really wiped away any doubt we had in the game and invigorated us to push to get it to market.
Features
- The sentinel can run and jump at high speeds, latching onto walls and enemies and kicking off of them to keep moving. The sentinel's agility allows it to infiltrate a base without ever touching the ground.
- Customize the sentinel with stolen faction technology. Optimize for speed, stealth, aggression or whatever fits your playstyle.
- Race through 3D physics-driven obstacle courses riddled with threats and traps designed to keep you out. Each map is procedurally generated, so no two playthroughs are the same!
- Learn about the factions of Terra Novus and unlock the secrets of the mysterious Eridani-C in the story-based procedurally-generated single player campaign.
- Compete against friends in online multiplayer. Revisit maps you already know or compete in blind races to see who can make it to the goal first!

About Last Shot Studios Inc.
- Boilerplate
- Last Shot Studios is a small indie game studio based in Toronto Canada, founded by Joseph Hughes and Hasan Kamal-Al-Deen. Being professional software developers with expertise in C++, they gravitate towards the development of procedurally generated games. Their first game prototype was a (now cancelled) zombie shooter called DeadScape that was built as a part of their final school project. After that, they worked on an unreleased procedural magic-based game involving time and physics control that was tentatively called Nexus. After a number of scrapped prototypes, The Cartesian Project is the first game LSS is bringing to market.
